Weathervane Playhouse Presents a Cabaret at the Midland

Weathervane Playhouse is brimming with talented singers this summer, so it is only fitting that we showcase what they can do. Live on the Midland Theatre stage, we are proud to present our first Cabaret evening of musical theatre. Our best and brightest singers perform classic favorites and modern pieces to create an intimate and expressive show unlike any that plays on our main stage.

In addition to the beautiful evening of music, we are happy to say that the Grill on Twenty First will be offering catering service. For the minimal price of $25 you will eat a catered dinner and experience the talents of Weathervane’s 2008 company. It is a lovely way to spend a summer evening.

WEATHERVANE PLAYHOUSE & WCLT Present Noises OFF

Take a hysterical tour through the hinterlands of Britain with a troupe of has-been actors led by a somewhat pretentious and strained-to-the-breaking-point director. This comedy is packed with laughs as the romances, intrigues, and foibles of the cast take center stage in a final performance that descends into the mayhem of their personal and professional vendettas. Performances begin Thursday June 12th through the 14th and June 18th through the 21st. All performance times are at 8:00pm.

Brought to life by our Guest Director Chad Rabinovitz this quick-witted comedy will shine with local favorites Dennis Kohler (Lloyd Dallas), Sue Salina (Mrs. Clackett), and John Pressey (Selsden Mowbrey). Behind the scenes romantic intrigue turns to Onstage plot additions with vengeful tactics and missed cues. Sardines fly, doors slam, and lovers bicker, but the show must go on! Never before has disaster been so hilarious.

Weathervane Playhouse is a not-for -profit summer theatre located at 100 Price Rd in Newark, Ohio. Adult Tickets are $23, Senior Citizens and Student tickets are $21, Children (under 12) are $15. For tickets, please contact our Box Office at 740-366-4616. Box Office Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 12-6 p.m.

Joe Jenkins Arts Education Fellowship

Newark, OH. Joe Jenkins Arts Education Fellowship. Weathervane Playhouse thanks Ralph and Charla Devine of Devine Farms for their generous donation which will be used to fund The Joe Jenkins Arts Education Fellowship.

Joe was a great guy who was a friend to all. He was an avid reader, enjoyed writing and theater. His gift for humor is ever present in our memories 20 years after his death. Devine Farms promotes family friendly activities on the farm every fall. The farm's motto is harvesting fun and education for young people and their families. We believe that Joe's personality lives on through our endeavors. Weathervane Playhouse is also harvesting fun and education in the arts. The members of the Devine-Jenkins family believe this endowment is a fitting tribute to a special young man whose star continues to shine.

In loving memory of Joe Jenkins, the fellowship will lead the way in supporting arts education at Weathervane Playhouse. The fellowship will help provide funding for workshops and programming in the Larry W. and Dawn Holt Anderson Children's Theatre and for our brand new youth company, Weathervane Young Artists' Repertory Theatre!, WYART! will produce a fully realized production each summer utilizing local children's talent. This year's production is the audience favorite Annie Jr.! For more information please visit www.weathervaneplayhouse.org or call the box office at 740-366-4616.

The first ever Joe Jenkins Arts Education Fellowship has been awarded to Kirsten Paisley. Kirsten is a graduate of Granville High School, and currently a Vocal Music Education Major, Theatre Minor at Butler University. This will be Kirsten's third year at Weathervane where she has performed, managed the properties department and will now be directing the Weathervane Young Artists' Repertory Theatre!

Kirsten Paisley said, "I just want to say thank you, I feel so honored to be the first Joe Jenkins Scholar. I find myself constantly telling people that I feel so blessed to be directing and choreographing this year's WYART! production. Where else would a college-aged student be able to direct a children's show with the help of other amazing artists who are just as passionate about arts education?
It is my prerogative to instill in people an appreciation for the arts. Weathervane has given, and continues to give me tools to realize that dream every year. I don't know where I would be without my family at "the vane". I simply cannot say enough how appreciative I am."

Managing Artistic Director, Matthew Trombetta says, "We are so grateful to the Devine family for their generous donation and thrilled to have Kirsten Paisley as the first Joe Jenkins Arts Education Fellow. I am certain that her leadership will help WYART! develop into a program that will truly cultivate the artistic abilities of local youth.
